Online Privacy Statement

Puget Sound Mortgage Lenders Association ("PSMLA" or "we") knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This statement describes our privacy policy. By visiting mortgagebankers.org, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Statement.

What Information Do We Gather and How is it Used?

PSMLA collects information from our users at several different points on this web site:

Users to the public areas of the PSMLA web site browse anonymously. However, the PSMLA web server does collect aggregate data, such as number of access attempts by page.

PSMLA may collect information ("Personal Information") from you before allowing access to certain resources and personalization features on the site, or to order products and services. Generally, when Personal Information is collected, it is used by PSMLA to improve web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services. PSMLA does not share Personal Information with any third parties except that PSMLA may share such information with its subsidiaries and affiliated organizations. Third party vendors providing services in connection with this web site may have access to Personal Information. It is PSMLA’s policy to require such vendors to hold Personal Information in strict confidence.

Cookies
Cookies are files that contain information created by a web server that can be stored on your machine for use either during a particular session ("session" cookie) or for future use ("persistent" cookie). PSMLA uses both session and persistent cookies to facilitate, track and limit automated activity, and to assist in the collection of site visitation statistics. Cookies are not used to disseminate significant information about users over the Internet. If you decline the attachment of any cookie, you may not have access to the full benefits of the web site.

Log Files
Like most standard web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Links
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that PSMLA is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site.

Sharing
LEGAL DISCLAIMER: ALTHOUGH WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PRESERVE USER PRIVACY, WE MAY NEED TO DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION WHEN (I) REQUIRED BY LAW WHEREIN WE HAVE A GOOD-FAITH BELIEF THAT SUCH ACTION IS NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH A CURRENT JUDICIAL PROCEEDING, A COURT ORDER OR LEGAL PROCESS SERVED ON OUR WEB SITE; OR (II) NECESSARY TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE RIGHTS OR PROPERTY OF PSMLA OR PSMLA AFFILIATES, INCLUDING THEIR WEB SITES. EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY STATED IN THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT, IN NO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES DO WE SHARE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH ANY PARTNERS, SERVICE PROVIDERS OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES. WE MAY HOWEVER SHARE AGGREGATE DATA WITH THIRD PARTIES WHERE SUCH DISCLOSURE DOES NOT ENTAIL THE DISCLOSURE OF ANY PERSONALLY-IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION.

Business Transitions
In the event PSMLA goes through a business transition, such as a merger or selling a significant portion of its assets, users’ Personal Information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. Users will be notified via email and prominent notice on our web site for 30 days prior to a change of ownership or control of their personal information. If as a result of the business transition, the user's personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection they will be given choice consistent with our notification of changes section.

Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this Privacy Statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

If, however, we are going to use users’ Personal Information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their Personal Information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their Personal Information be used in this new manner.
